You have to kiss some frogs...

On Saturday, I attended a meeting of my local chapter of RWA (Romance Writers of America). My chapter, Two Rivers Romance Authors, invited Sherry James and Julie Miller of Prairieland Romance Writers chapter in Nebraska to speak to our group.

They presented a fab program about time management and beating procrastination called Kiss the Frog. The basic premise of the workshop is all those things we must do each day are the frogs and we have to kiss the frog to be productive. In other words, embrace the tough most difficult tasks first and get them out of the way.

This was a very timely program for me. I've been really having trouble buckling down to write lately. I'm not sure what my problem is but when I sit at my computer I'm more likely to find myself trolling Facebook than I am elbow deep in my latest story. A story which I need to complete and get off to my publisher pdq!!! What's worst is that the story I need to finish is a short story. I should be able to whip this puppy (or frog) out quickly. Sigh...alas and alack that hasn't happened.

However, after the wise words from Sherry and Julie I'm much more ready to move forward. I even managed to get something written on my story today. As we speak, my hero and heroine are on their way to his place for some hot sex. I think I can get this written now. I'll keep you all posted.

So, how do all of you take on your frogs? How do you beat procrastination when you're working on a story you need to get finished? Any suggestions welcomed and appreciated!
