Suckered in Once Again...

“Are you going?”

“Nope.”

“Come on, Nick, it’s for your pup’s.”

“Nope, and I could say the same to you, Z.”

“And face the mobs all trying to get the same one item on sale?  No thanks.  Those humans can be worse than hungry wolves facing off at a kill.”

Nick leaned forward on the cush chair they kept in the corner.  “So, we forget this crazy notion?”

“It’s not crazy, Nick.” Ziva sat up and faced her mate.  “That big name store off the highway scored a hell of a deal on rawhide chews and are offering it up at a can’t miss price.”

“Did we check with Glenn?  I know he sells mostly fetish gear out of the pet shop, but he’s started to offer up some honest to goodness pet goods.”

“I checked with him and he tried to get a large batch, but being that they are homemade, the seller had run out and was not expecting to make any more for the holiday season.”

“Are we sure the pups need them?”

“Coop’s catching up with his sister in the shifting department and their wolf teeth are starting to come in, but they’re still too young for bones.  Human teething rings work fine in their human form, but not so much in pup form.”

“Do we know anyone going that way today?”

Nick and Ziva sat staring at each other, each weighing the “who to call” options.

“Mooney!”  They both hollered, each jumping for their cells.

###

“I can’t believe I got suckered into doing this again after last year’s fiasco.” Mooney grumbled, dodging crazy people all beating feet to score junk for under their Christmas trees.

Mama Kin, Ziva’s ringtone, blasts from close by.  He stopped, mid-flow, to dig the phone out of his pocket.  Ziva, rarely called to chit-chat, but she always let him know what was going on with his niece and nephew.  He adored those little buggers.  He hoped there was nothing wrong.  “Yo, Z, what’s up?”

“Hey Mooney…”

“Put him on speaker.”  His brother demanded in the background.

“…shh Nick!  So, Mooney, where ya at this fine morning?”

“Down at the…” Mooney took the corner of a cart to damn near the inner thigh by a crazed shopper. “Holy Lupa, lady…watch where you’re going, you almost took out my balls!”

“Screw you…”

“Geez, you kiss your dame with that mouth?”

“Ah Mooney…”  Ziva called through the phone still at his ear.

“Sorry, Z, there are a bunch of crazy apes at this store today.  What did you need?”

“Raging Randi’s Rawhide Chews.  They’re homemade and crazy cheap there today.”

“Hell Ziva, those are on the other end of the store…can’t Nick get his own secret midnight snacks?”

“Why that little, mutt…just wait until I see you again, Moon” “Shut up, Nick!”  Nick growled and Ziva laughed.  “Please, Mooney, I’ll pay you for what they cost and I give you a solid ‘I owe you’.”

“Ooh, I like the sound of an IOU…”  Mooney responded, already turned and moving in the direction of the rawhides.  He’d just come from grabbing the boy’s gifts—military grade hunting knives.  Sure, they were wolf shifters, but they couldn’t always shift.  For those times they needed to know how to protect themselves and their loved ones.  Now that the new alpha was here, they need to start training to protect her.

“Would it help if the rawhides were for the pups?  They’ve started teething.”

“I figured,” Mooney laughed, but don’t tell Nick that, he’s just so fun to tease.

Ziva laughed, “you are so ballsy, Mooney.  I love it!”

“How many do you want?”

“As many as you can get Mooney, as many as you can get.  And thanks!”

Mooney hung up and proceeded to empty Raging Randi’s bin.  He also grabbed an extra-small bone he intend on titling Nick’s Bone and leaving under the tree at the Gazette.  Ah brotherly love in the holiday season.

Doing it with Gusto!

Alas, no flash from me today.  Between school and turkey day, Mz. Muse has been squashed into a corner.  She's none to happy about it, but she's absconded with one of my unmated jaguar hottie characters and is enjoying Black Friday with gusto!  I'll be back next week with a new arrival in our Talbot's Peak home, I hope!

Stay safe if you're out in the stores today and may you find each and every awesome deal you seek!

Black Friday Deals...

Cami sipped from the cup in one hand, inwardly praising the Java Huts private stash of tea leaves and circled today’s purchase with the other.  She couldn’t believe yesterday was Thanksgiving and today, Black Friday.

“Ahhhh, thank Lupa,” Ziva moaned, gulping down the coffee waiting for her before even getting her ass in the chair.  “Now why the hell do you have me here so early, Cami?”

“Please, I know you’ve been up for at least an hour…it is Black Friday.”

“Of course I have…gifts to get, deals to find and this year we have the thrill of bartering here in The Peak, along with the new Talbies.”

Cami chuckled at the whipped cream mustache her sister sported and handed her a napkin.  “That’s just why I asked you here, Ziva.”  She adjusted the paper so the boldly circled item could be seen on the other side of the table.  “Who has that?”  She asked, pointing out the coveted gift.

“I couldn’t tell ya.”

“Come on, Z.  You owe me.”

“How do you figure that?”

“Yesterday?”  Cami crossed her arms and stared down her sister.  “I let you catch the turkey.”

“The scat you did.  I caught that fair and square…you were too slow and clumsy.”

“Nope, I was waiting for you and Nick to come around the corner and I intentionally took him out.  You’re welcome.  Now pay up…who has that?”

“Bullscat…”

Cami watched Ziva run yesterday’s turkey hunt over in her head to make sure she was the rightful winner.
She also recognized the exact moment her sister remembered seeing Cami ahead of her.

“…Damn.  Next year I’m kicking your mangy, kennel cough ass.”

The flush of red spread over her face just as it did whenever anyone in her circle brought up her foolish illness.  “That has gone away, thank you…now give me the information I want.”

“I really can’t, Cami.  All those items came in anonymously via the gazettes website. They’ll all be at the high school gym waiting to be bartered for or purchased.”

“Bugger…”

“Why do you want that item anyway?”   Her sister leaned in close, sure to smell the hint of unease Cami knew she was putting off.

“No specific reason just that it would be cool.”  Cami gathered up her paper and purse, preparing to head over to the school.  She didn’t want Ziva to inspect her too closely or she’d be forced to spill her guts on her real needs.

“Oh no you don’t…”

“Leave it alone, Z.”

“No way…there’s a reason you want that,” Ziva growled, pointing at the object of Camis’ fascination.  “And I want to know what it is.”

“It’s nothing…I mean, who wouldn’t want one.”  Cami spun on her heel and raced to the door. Ziva stayed in her seat drinking coffee with a smirk on her face.  Hopefully, she’d find the holder of her needs before her sister could catch up.  She didn’t need any more scat from the alpha bitch of their family.

###

Leo had been so sure his product would be quite the sought after piece that he’d be beating back the throng with his single-tail whip.  Little did he know?  There was not a single person at or around his booth.  Neither barter nor Talby crossed his palm.

Who wouldn’t want an invisible cloak?

Apparently, most, if not all, of the Talbot’s Peak residents if the crickets echo was any indication.  At least he’d brought along his canine anatomy book to study up on all of the sensitive spots on a wolf.  Once he and Cami got down to playing, he would be ready to provide the exquisite pleasure/pain she required.

“Ohmygawd.” The breathless pant tingled down his spine and dug into the lower vertebrae, so close to his balls.  “You haven’t sold it yet, have you…the, the cloak, do you still have it?”
Why would his love, his sweet submissive feel she needed to be invisible?  And what exactly would she barter away to get it?

“You’re in luck, Cami Ann,” he said, dropping the book into his lap and looking into her shocked face.  “But what will you trade me for it?”

###

Wouldn’t you freaking know it.  The person she needed to stay away from was the owner of the tool she wanted to use to be successful.

“I-I have…”  Cami glanced down at herself, cataloging her jewelry and the cash/Talbies in her purse.  “I have money, Talbies.”

Leo stopped her before she could reach inside her clutch.  “I have no need of currency, old or new.”

“Ah, okay, how about jewelry—gold, for your wife?”

“Not married, Cami Ann.”

“Coffee?  Every morning for say a year?”

“No, I was thinking more along the lines of your time.  Say two hours a day for a month?”

“E-everyday?”

“Yep, and on Sunday’s I’ll give you a treat.  What do you say, do we have a deal?”

She should really ask for clarification, but she was too chicken.  She could agree, take the cloak and hide from him for… what, ever?  No that was a poor way to conduct business.  She was better than that.  She would agree to his terms and see what he had in store for her tomorrow.  If she couldn’t do whatever it was, she would return the cloak and leave.  “Yes, deal.”

“Good.  Meet me at the clinic tomorrow afternoon…after closing.  The cloak will be waiting for you there… and so will I.”

May you all find a very special Black Friday Deal of your very own!

Zombies Sighted on Black Friday!

~~Attn Talbot's Peak residents, Zombies have been sighted at stores in surrounding towns, partaking of black Friday deals.  Stay safe...you've been warned.~~

Ziva smiled as she made the last of the tweeks to her Friday post on the Guts and Butts site.  The not so gentle reminder to the more than human sect of Talbot's Peak was like a secret service announcement to the world.  The last thing this sleepy little town needed was a group of Were's shuffling and jostling in a line of humans trying to score the best deals on the worst shopping day of the year...

Trampling was just the beginning of the ugliness a group of shifters could cause...

It was a good thing most animals were wierded out by zombies and crowds - her little jpg warning above ought to be enough to keep the shifters in town and away from angry mobs...she hoped.
~~~
 Stay safe today, and if ya'll go out for deals...watch out for Zombies and out of control Were's!
Five Benefits To Being A Shapeshifter On Black Friday
Yep, I'm coming at you with another Friday Five, but I do so enjoy them and today being Black Friday and all, I thought it appropriate. :)
So on with the show...
Five benefits to being a shapeshifter on Black Friday
5. Being nocturnal, I'll be wide-eyed and bushy-tailed at 3:00am.
4. If I'm a shapeshifter who can take other human forms, I could change into someone famous and get my stuff for freebie.
3. My fur will keep me extra warm when I'm camping outside my favorite electronics store overnight.
2. My fearsome appearance will assure me a place in the front of the line.
1. Should any of the above fail to allow me to be first to my desired purchases, I can nip the heals of those in the lead... hehee watch out ;)
Good Luck out there to all our readers making the rounds for early bird specials, keep an eye open for any Jags or Wolves who cross your path.
