Who is the Nude Blonde?

Cason backed away from the nude female as she stirred. His ears still ached from the high-pitched song he kept hearing and feeling as though he should know the words to running through his subconscious thoughts. And yet, part of him wanted to reach down and help her to her feet. Why did he feel so protective of her? He’d never seen her before. He couldn’t remember meeting her. Frack, he couldn’t even put more than two names together out of the group of shifters and humans surrounding them. How had his early morning beach walk become so complicated?

“You know mate,” Nitchell began, his Cockney accent more pronounced. “I warned you about her.” His wings beat back and forth as he worked to stay aloft out of the main stream of wind blowing off the water.

“Nitchell, I don’t give a damn what you said. You keep trying to tell me what to do. Free will lets me off the hook. You ain’t learned that yet have you.” Cason wanted to grab his head. It hurt like he’d had one hell of a hangover. One large enough to last him several life times over. His queasy stomach refused to settle. Oh well, he’d spilled the contents so nothing remained. The longer he stood still the better he felt. Looking toward the water did not help. Each lap of waves sent his head to pounding as though someone had turned lose 100 woodpeckers on the inside of his already busting head.

“Help me please,” a frail feminine voice cried. All eyes shifted to her. Castella could feel their gaze rove over her. How long had she lain here upon the sands free from her water home? She shuddered with each breath. Slowly raising her hands to her neck, she ran her fingers over where her gills should be. Nothing. Soft flesh and the pulse of her beating heart greeted her probing. Lifting her head, she glanced toward the sky blue water rushing toward her as wave upon wave broke the surf line. Two lone tears worked their way down her cheek and dropped to her hand. Her promise echoed as her heat skipped a beat. She would live and so would her unborn child. Nothing would prevent her from surviving. Except one person--one bastard of a power hungry animal, Sherre Kahn.

“We need to get her and us behind the clothing optional sign.” Cason turned to where Nemos and Sandra stood. Beside them, the two humans nodded in agreement. Cason knew they were non-shifters how well they knew Sandra and Nemos remained to be figured out.

Sandra dropped to her knees next to the blonde. “Please know no one means to harm you. We need to get you up and on your feet. I suspect your land legs are not stable. Lean on Nemos and I.” The blonde seemed to understand and accepted Sandra’s hand. With Nemos’s help, she rose and leaned on him. Sandra looped her other arm around her waist and assisted the blonde across the warm sand.

Ten minutes later with help from all of them, Castella found herself sitting on a bench wrapped in a beach towel as she shivered. Heat rose from a cup setting before her. The woman called Tessa assured her it was warm water with a bit of salt to help settle her stomach. How could she know? Yet, there was that passing look and understanding smile. As Castella’s eyes moved over Tessa’s frame, she began to understand why. Tessa carried her child high and proud. As did the half-human Sandra. Pregnant females shared a bond older than time.

“I—I—“Castella tried to stop the chills and cold clamoring through her. She needed to speak. Warn these souls of the havoc awaiting them for helping her.

“I am Castella Merprincess.” She spat out gripping the table. Silence fell as the seminude sea sprite landed on the table and kneeled before her.

Dinner in the Woods

Grey dropped on to the bench along the wooded path. Silence greeted him. He’d not slept well since the night at the bar. Her scent refused to leave him. It was as though she’d wrapped herself around him and entwined his soul with hers.

“Right, since when does a human consider a shifter soul mate material? Fuck, I couldn’t determine who she was from all the blasted perfume moving around as the women crowded the stage asking for more songs.” Grey slumped against the bench. Closing his eyes, he inhaled.

Odors wafted through his nostrils igniting images and memories. Recently dirt dug filled the first flash. Construction on his new home in Anchorage came to mind. Digging for the basement and foundation was nearing completion.

The second reminded him of his shopping trip two days prior. The gal at the perfume counter flirted worse than a she wolf in double heat. Her zealous fawning over him and the obnoxious mixture of cloying fragrances had sent his stomach into fits. He’d smiled nicely and backed away shaking his head as he repeated no thank you twice. Why department stores insisted on crowding clothing next to the cosmetics and toiletries counters made no sense to him.

The third cuddled up to him like an old friend. Familiar and yet new. Behind his closed eyes, he flashed back to the Karaoke night. He’d known every woman in the crowd wanted him even if they were with someone. Thank gods and goddesses his geneticist had figured out that male wolves went through their own heats. His pheromones were leaking out faster than he could breathe. Not that he wanted endless orgies. Been there done that and had given away his surplus t-shirt souvenirs along with his own semi-worn dreams of sex without connection. Frack, his male id and ego refused to understand his rational human side at times. Ah well, he’d keenly noticed the middle-aged woman working her way toward the kitchen door as he sang. He’d caught bits and pieces of her smells as she watched him.

Inhaling again, Grey lurched forward. Her scent smacked against his psyche and whispered sweet promises of passion as it twirled around him. Lord, if his cock got any harder, he’d split his zipper. Cupping his hands over his nose, he tried short breaths, hoping to clear his head. No luck, he only intensified her marking him.

A distance behind him, he heard rustles. Rising slowly, he peered through the small opening in the bushes near another section of the path. An auburn haired woman sat on a colored quilt rolling a ball back and forth to a toddler who couldn’t be much more than three years old. The child counted to five, clapped her hands and laughed as she returned the ball back to her mother. Their basket and food left over items sat on one corner of the blanket. Grey kept quiet while he watched.

Michelle swallowed hard. Her three-year-old daughter, Tessa, looked like her father. Anyone who knew him would know whose sperm created her. Damn him for fucking and not looking back. Double damn him for not taking care to prevent an unwanted pregnancy. Blast his unholy soul to - - -Michelle flinched. Someone or something watched her. Glancing side to side, she saw nothing. Slightly cocking her head, she reached up and tucked her hair behind her ear. No one could tell she listened and surveyed like a cat ready to pounce. Her weak shifter genes didn’t show in her features. Nor did any clan or animal lay claim to her kinship. Too bad they hadn’t realized that Granny knew how to develop their strongest traits and magical abilities. Whoever it was they were in for one hell of a fight. Michelle was done with running and hiding.

Grey inhaled sharply. His hand tightly gripped the back of the bench, crushing the wood edge into fragments. He’d found her. His groin tightened as his balls swelled and need clenched at his gut. What a hell of a time to find his mate. He didn’t want to frighten her off. Nor did he want to scare the child. He sensed her fear and angst. He’d wait and protect. That was his nature. Once they were gone, he’d morph and find his dinner in the woods. The need to hunt coursed through him.

A New Love Interest

Josh groaned as the next contestant stepped to the microphone. Of all the screwed things Anthony could have come up with, he decided to introduce Karaoke Night at the bar. It wasn’t enough that a bunch of drunk horny shape shifters crashed and trashed the bar almost every full moon. Now they were howling to oldies but goodies from 60’s and 70’s along with tunes from the 80’s and 90’s too.

The gent dressed in business slacks and a button down shirt looked severely out of place amongst the oilrig workers, bikers, and other mix of gay and straight clients filling the bar. His trimmed beard and short hair stuck out amongst long hair, jeans, t-shirts and leather gear. Not that the local shifters didn’t own respectable businesses like the humans in town. Josh smiled remembering the look on Sally’s face when she learned her Gynecologist was a wolf three nights out of the month.

Grey gazed out over the audience. It seemed weird to not be in his usual stage costume. Leather pants and emblem emblazed t-shirt from the tour’s sponsor adoring his chest. Since the group broke up 6 months prior, he’d taken time to assess where his life was heading and what he’d done. The money and music fulfilled part of his needs. Parts of him long for a mate who understood his roving eye and didn’t mind sharing. He didn’t mind another man present. No sexual thrills of bi longings went unsatisfied. He liked seeing his mate well-loved and sated. The few threesomes he’d share with his ex had been worth the growth and learning curves. Now he needed to find the music singing in his soul again. To find the one person or persons who’d take him as he was.

“Good evening. My name’s Grey. I’d like to sing a tune I wrote a few years back. Does anyone have a guitar I can use?” Someone called out. An acoustic guitar passed forward through the crowd. A tall red headed Irish looking dude held up his hand.

“Enjoy and return to me when you’re done please.” Grey liked the sound of his Irish accent. He reminded Grey of his best friend Smith. Those were days when the band was belting out number one hits every three weeks. Days and often months spent on the road touring. A time that was good in the moment. Now Grey wanted more permanence in his life.

“Thanks.” Grey strummed the strings, tuning here and there. Before he struck his first chord, he inhaled. Her scent run up his nostrils and settled on his psyche as if she’d been waiting for him to notice her. He sniffed again. Her subtle scent and aroma tickled her way around his palate and ignited his desire in a way he hadn’t felt for a few years. A quick glance revealed no female close to the stage. Hmm, was his ego stroking his horny id into existence or was he remembering another time and place?

Michelle stood near the back of the crowded bar. She’d made more in tips tonight than any other. Tory had told her from the start that working the bar would pan out. Two of the oilrig workers tipped generously as she kept their beers refilled and hot food before them. Tory smiled as she instructed her nanny to keep an eye on Michelle’s toddler. Life was taking on normalcy again. Michelle slumped against the wall and let her guard down. Maybe, just maybe, she was safe. Running and hiding had to stop.

Grey cleared his throat and began playing. The chords and music burst forth like old friends welcoming him back. He closed his eyes and sang.

Alone you watch and wait

I know your pain

Wondering if you like I am alone

With no one to call your own

Night after night, you plan

Only to see it all die in a flash of light

As your heart calls out where is a home for me

Grey sang three more verses. His strong tenor tones reached out across the crowded room caressing Michelle with each note and sound. It was as though his eyes met hers and refused to look away. She reached into her serving apron, pulled out a tissue and dabbed at the tears threatening to flow.

Michelle inched along the wall working her way toward the swinging kitchen door. Freedom awaited her. She’d ---she’d what. Run again? Hide and cower in fear? How could he know? The lone musician sang a lonely love song that seared her soul. How could he know her pain and anguish he summed up so succinctly in words and melody?

Male Cougar on the Prowl

“What the?” Tamara dropped her binoculars and rummaged in her pocket. “Where did I put that hanky?” Her hand came out empty. Blowing on the lens, she dabbed at them part of her overlarge t-shirt.
Two feet back on the trail, he sat and watched. Each burst of wind blasting over the hilltops and down through the gullies whipped up against her pulling her shirt tight around her. Pert breasts filled out the top as it slowly sank back down to where its hemline lay just beneath her pussy. Her shorts left little to his imagination each time she reached to tug them back from cradling the crack of her firm plump ass. He tilted his head back and sniffed. Yes, she was ready and wet. He’d read her horniness as she left her ground campsite two hours earlier.
Tamara pushed her glasses back up her nose as she lift the binoculars back to her eyes. “How in the name of all did that poor woman end up there?”
“For safe keeping I guess.” A husky male voice, sounded from behind Tamara. She jumped and spun around, fumbling for her can of mace. Where had she put it?
“Looking for this?” A six-foot muscular male with long blond hair approached holding her can of mace.
Great nowhere to run and more important, her one weapon was shoved deep in her waistband at the small of her back. Her stun gun. So much for being ready and keeping aware of her surroundings.
“Stop right there.” Tamara held up her hand. Shoving her other behind her, she tried to stuff her hand under the tail of her shirt without appearing obvious.
Neilson smiled as he caught her movements. Poor thing didn’t understand her attempts at defense wouldn’t hold him off if he pounced on her. Shifters moved faster than humans ever could or imagined they could. Not that he wanted to hurt her. Startle her into his arms and pull her tight against him and his raging hard on. Damn straight he wanted her spread eagle on his bed wet willing and ready to be claimed. His mate would know who she belonged to once he sated both their desires. Problem was how did he convince her she needed him.
“I’m stopping.” Neilson laid the mace canister on the fallen log near him and backed away. He didn’t want to frighten her. He knew she hadn’t seen the patch on his shirtsleeve or the emblem covered by his hair that took up the right hand side of his shirt. Wearing his normal park ranger regulation uniform gave him away when he took off into the woods and trails searching out poachers and drug vermin.
Tamara inched sideways hoping to work more of her shirt out of the way to grab her weapon. As she scraped the tree trunk closest to her, a loud moan split the air. The hunk turned toward the direction of the sound. Tamara snatched her shirt hem and hiked it high enough to pull the stun gun free. “Thank you. You can leave now.”
Silence greeted her. Her blonde hunk was racing down the hill faster than the wind. Tamara blinked twice and counted one cougar, two cougars---how the hell could he move so fast?
She swallowed and chased after him. She’d come too far to miss out on this. That sound could mean only one thing---a female panther in heat. Now if she could bypass the hunk she’d be in business.
Neilson noted his soon to be mate followed him. Good, though he doubted she understood what she was walking into. Not that any harm would befall her. Still finding herself in the middle of a shape shifter orgy might be more than she could accept. Watching the change freaked humans out. Most humans ran and never bothered to look back or come back to claim their gear. Oh well, their loss was his gain. His mountainside home furnishings suited him. And the electronics along with camping equipment made things quite comfy. Getting her naked in that double sleeping bag set his libido into over drive.
Neilson dodged left behind a set of trees. He knew he had to stop her. He suspected she’d seen the woman draped naked across the tree limb. He’d carried her up there after she’d passed out after the twin alpha cubs, okay at 21 they weren’t cubs by human standards but by shifter ones, they were still green on couth and manners, had pleasured her several times a piece. Not that she’d complained but safety was important. Ah well, his mate to be might find his animalistic appeal to her liking. He’d soon be finding out. Sticking his arm out along with his foot, he steadied himself to catch her as she fell. He wondered if her heart would pound like his once she was nestled tight to him.

Cason Awakens

Cason groaned and tried to open one eye. His stomach rushed up to meet his throat. Inhaling sharply, he lay his head on his forearm. What the hell had hit him? Why did he feel like he’d tied on a 3 day drinking binge with his frat brothers? Fuck, the last time he’d been stupid enough to do that he’d woken up to find Nitchell hovering over him. Had the little bastard slipped him - - -

Images slammed through Cason’s mind. Vivid underwater scenery and glimpses of far off mountains faded as he drew in a deep breath and slowly exhaled. His stomach sank back to its normal position, close to his navel. Raising his head with care and caution, Cason opened one eye. He counted the pairs of feet near him. At least five people stood nearby. Shit, what had Nitchell done now to draw attention to them?

“I think he’s coming round.” Nitchell’s fake cockney accent rankled Cason every time he heard it. Having a sea sprite for a guardian angel didn’t make life any easier, nor did wondering what else the gods might decide to throw at him. When had he pissed them off so thoroughly?

“Nitchell, lower your voice,” a female scolded. Cason’s eyes roved up the pair of feminine legs closest to him. They stopped at her red haired thatch. Another darker colored one stood next to her. When had Sandra taken up with women? Did Nemos know?

“Yes, I know every purr she makes, my friend.” Cason’s gaze inched left. A hand waved before him. His eyes clapped shut as he groaned.

“Nemos, move before I throw up.” Cason no more than spat out his last words and his stomach spewed up his throat. Several gut retching minutes later, two sets of hands helped Cason roll over.

“Take it easy.” A softer unknown feminine voice offered. “Jaxson has gone to the house to get you some water and a clean shirt.”

Cason shielded his eyes as he tried opening them again. Next to Sandra, another nude female stood. Nemos squatted near him, sniffing the air. “Do I smell that foul?”

Nemos smiled. “No, keeping an eye on the beach and those that approach. Two yards in either direction are groups that could move toward us. Right now they are interested in the waves and surf more than a group of people standing around.”

“If he can stand, we need to move back up behind our privacy fence. The life guards are coming on duty soon.” A tall black haired male stepped around Sandra and her companion. “I’m Jaxson and this is my mate Tessa.” He pointed to the lithe blonde next to Sandra.

“I’m Cason.” He tried to sit up. His vision blurred and his stomach lurched. “Can someone halt the train trying to run over me again?” Cason grabbed his head and swayed upright.

“Easy said than done mate,” Nitchell quipped. Cason squinted at him.

“Nitchell what the hell did you do to---“A female groan drowned out Cason’s next words.

All turned to face the lone woman still prone next to them. Her ash blonde locks hid her face. Her nude body left little to the imagination as she turned on her side.

“Who is she?” Cason staggered to his feet. Easing his way away from her, he wondered why he felt an over whelming need to protect her.
