"Got 'em spotted," Ralph da bear signaled.

Summer-hot howls and yowls, shapeshifter lovers.

Once again: To Quote: "Our Talbot's Peak saga continues. The bad guys have made pests of themselves, and are harassing our beloved mayor, Gil. Well, they just might be real sorry after Operation Crunch."

Okay, how sorry will the bad-guy bureaucrats be having to drive a wolf and saber-tooth mangled car that has also been especially decorated by Miss Cardinal and her bird-shifter friends?

That is, after the bear shifters get done with them
~~~~~~
"Got 'em spotted," Ralph da bear signaled.
Kitty couldn't help herself. Her stunned and feline-fascinated gaze glued itself to the super-tech screen Blade Runner had provided. Not to meow out loud, but she kept bending closer observing Carlotta's fast and furious aerial maneuvers.
Yowls, her bird-droppings art on the shifters-gone-wild damaged sedan. Well, amazingly impressive!
Next, the cardinal shifter invited her feathered friends, and Kitty watched in astonished awe as they flew diving patterns, decorating the now mostly unrecognizable car. At some point, Carlotta's leadership turned them into an attack flock. The mostly white splotches and splashes were applied with precision -- as if they'd practiced as a drill team.
Applauding the motley-crew flock's performance, Kitty clapped her hands, but softly so she wouldn't alert anyone outside her office. Oh clawing-yeah, she made up her mind to recruit the fiery-spirited cardinal as one of her *keep Talbot's Peak safe* team leaders. Carlotta was a natural.
****
"Got 'em spotted," Ralph da bear signaled. Shifted, he spoke in bear-growling language, then tromped loudly toward the two state agents who still ran for their lives. "Those stinky suits are headed your way, Ben."
Ben -- Peak store proprietor and bear shifter -- bark-growled 'he got the message'. He'd brought his entire family to give chase -- and likely to school the young'ns in who the real enemy was. In fact, the family had turned it into an outing, a picnic in the woods.
On sentry duty, Ralph merely listened to the rousing, running din of children-cubs having a real good time. He'd also scarfed down generous portions of their fare, and slurped up the dee-licious berry pie Mrs. Ben brought him. Earlier, he'd plopped his large frame down, and used the base of a huge maple tree as his personal lounger.
Yeah-hell buddy, it only took two good eyes, his alert ears, and a superb sniffer to know when the two human pests intruded.
"Here!" Drolun announced in bear grunts. Obvious as the blue sky above, the cave-dwelling bear shifter, moved on silent paws -- given Ralph hadn't heard his approach. Otherwise known as Tom Jones because he impersonated the performer at the Pleasure Club, Drolun was a master of forest survival.
With the piss-scent of the revenuers now filling his nostrils, Ralph crashed through the underbrush toward his scared-shitless targets. Intent on driving them back to their mangled car, he roared – although, crapola! his lungs didn't cooperate too well.
Too many late-night movies with pizza and beer, he concluded. Time to get back to the gym and work out like the Rock.
"Got 'em in sight," Ben bellowed. "The missus and the kids are baiting 'em like fish on hooks."
Ralph burst into the scene. The three cubs squealed, and pretending to be afraid, they bolted toward mom. Mrs. Ben reared up and roared her motherly rage.
Frozen in the terror, the two human males didn't even notice his lumbering noisy arrival -- or Drolun who silently slipped through the trees opposite Ralph. Mrs. Ben bared her fangs. Fiercely snarling, she dropped to all fours, and charged. Ben followed, roaring his outrage, which was real enough...but had nothing to do with the safety of his cubs.
Ralph wheezed snarls when the two white-as-a-ghost humans fled in his direction. Summoning his strength, as if he fought the bad guy in a WWF fight, he galloped toward them.
Hoarse pitiful yells burst from their fear-constricted throats, and the two collided as they tried to race in the other direction. For instants, the ape-idjits pummeled each other with their fists, battling to be the first one to run the other way.
If he could have bellowed a belly laugh, Ralph would have sat on his rump, and let one loose. Instead, he advanced, doing his part to herd them back toward the car. NO ONE wanted these two dangerous bureaucrats stranded anywhere close to Talbot's Peak.
"Oh fuck God! There's another one!" the suit in the lead screamed.
Drolun, looking magnificently ferocious -- like a bear should -- charged. His muscles bunched and rippled beneath his thick luxurious coat as he running-stalked the pair. Even his gaze devoured the human pests.
From behind them, Ben and Mrs. Ben roared in chorus, and moved to cut off their escape. Their cubs followed, joining in with their little roars.
Terrified -- Ralph heard their rapidly thundering heartbeats -- the state agents wheeled back in the direction they'd run from. Scrambling to get their footing on the slick foliage, they then took off like hellhounds bit their butts.
Naw, hell bears, Ralph corrected himself. Dang it, he wouldn't mind taking a huge ole chomp outta their fleeing asses. But Kitty -- Dante's love kitten and leader of Operation Crunch -- had been adamant about there being no teeth marks on their despicable hides.
Yeah, yeah, right...no use in bringing in state hunters who'd take aim. Then, they'd have to deal with those podunks.
Ralph mentally chuckled as he pounded after the pair -- was someone timin' 'em? Their land speed had to be a damn record.
Between him, the Ben family, and Drolun, they kept the two suits herded as they attempted to veer off course -- keeping them on course for their wolf-and-sabertooth wrecked of a wreck.
Wow, wowser-powser, who did all the bird-shit decorating???
TO BE CONTINUED...
Baby It's Cold Out Side
Sally sniffled and reached for the steaming cup sitting on the bar. Two hours into her shift and a snowstorm from hell was blowing outside. Her head felt like someone was practicing bongo lessons in and on it. Two days of sneezing and light malaise had lingered longer than she anticipated. Trying to get the ten blocks to the walk-in clinic was out of the question. Every time the bar door opened, all she could make out was white swirling outside the door and the howling of the wind before the door closed.
“Ahhchooo,” some smart ass called out as she opened her mouth while trying to pull another tissue from the box beneath the bar. Quickly cover her mouth; Sally sneezed as noisily as the loudmouth patron had yelled. Dabbing her eyes, she glanced around the semi-empty bar. Two males sat huddled near the back corner playing checkers. Each nursed a beer and remnants of sandwiches they’d ordered earlier. Their backpacks sat on the floor near them.
As she turned, Sally caught the wise cracker sitting at the end of the bar. A burly man hunched over a large bowl of soup and a plate of buffalo chicken wings. His request for ice water and plenty of it puzzled her until he began eating wings dipped in Anthony’s ultra-hot habanero salsa. He never broke a sweat. Three glasses of water later, he’d taken off his hat and scarf.
Dark hat tousled hair stood out all over his head. His fogged glasses slid part way down his nose revealing medium brown eyes that appeared to glow when the pot lights overhead hit them. His scraggly beard gave him an air of mystery. As he shrugged out of his heavy parka, a patch on his shoulder came into sight. It read City of Anchorage DOT.
Sally smiled and shook her head. Mike Turner was back. The first shape shifter she’d ever met and learned that good folks didn’t just come in human form.
“Hey Mike,” she croaked, moving toward him. “When did you get back?”
Mike looked up, pushing his glasses back up his nose, smiling. “Three days ago as the first blast of cold air roared over the peaks. Couldn’t resist the wise crack. Have you been to the doc in the box yet?”
“Nope, was waiting for break in storm. No such luck.” Sally pulled her sweater tighter about her. Chaffing her arms, she nodded toward the front window. “I’d get lost in that white out. Pity there isn’t a closer clinic.”
Mike nodded. “Actually there’s a new doc in the office building next door. You might not be aware of this.”
Sally picked up her still warm cup and sipped. “Only doc I know of is the new vet. That is what DVM stands for behind his name.”
Mike’s smile grew. He slurped a spoon full of soup before continuing. “That is his front office doings. He’s a shifter from the lower fifty. Bear cousin of my Black Bear clan. Told em to try up here where he’d have good constant source of business human and shifter along with animal. His wives are human docs and vet techs. So best possibilities all around.” He crumpled two hands full of crackers into his half-full bowl of soup. “More water please.”
Sally filled his glass and sat another by it. “Too bad they are snowed in with no place to stay or eat unless they make their way over here.”
“Doc keeps a two way radio going whenever a storm hits. His way of doing business from when he lived in the Ozarks for many years and a few others spent in the Bayous. I can have em here in two wind blasts.” Mike laughed and ate several spoons of soup before downing half of the glass of water closest to him.
Sally opened her mouth to speak. A loud squeak caught her and Mike’s attention. Anthony, Tory, and Josh entered from the kitchen. Anthony’s dour look offset Tory’s weak smile, and Josh’s frown had Sally wondering what the three were tussling over now. They’d been having one of their earnest heated discussions when she’d clocked in.
“Sally, Tory tells me you are set on going home regardless of the state of the storm outside.” Anthony leaned on the bar. His tone of voice and hardened demeanor said more than if he had out rightly challenged her.
“I wish I had stayed home. I feel like road kill roasted twice over and run over again.” Sally tried smiling knowing her weak attempt was futile. Shivers and a rough cough threatened to overtake her. What a time for her throat to go dry.
Mike belched and stood up. “There’s a doc next door with all kinds of meds that can fix Sally up. I can have em here toot sweet. Besides, the doors to the subbasements around here connect through the tunnels to the old root cellars the warehouse had before it was broken up into separate office buildings.”
Anthony stood up looking Mike in the eye. “How do you know this?”
Josh and Tory moved closer. Sally could feel the tension growing in the silence surrounding them. She caught movement out of the corner of her eye. Even the two sitting over in the corner were watching them. Oh shit, how did she keep four shifters from causing a maelstrom of shit worse than the storm outside?
December is upon us. Chills and snow are mentioned in the weather reports. Last time we had 60 degrees in December we had two major blizzards hit the Mid-Atlantic. Thanks but no thanks! Cold can come as long as it isn't enough to freeze pipes or ice roads. A bit of snow here and there isn't too bad either. Keep safe and warm with your spice and loves.
The Crazy Cougar and the Mad Bear... Yosemite Week Continues
End of summer howls and yowls, shapeshifter lovers.
Well, here it is, my flash scene for the pic hanging to the right of this post. Likely, it’s rough around the edges since I’m a bit under the weather. But, I hope you enjoy.
The Crazy Cougar and the Mad Bear
Half bombed out of her mind, Sirakusa squeezed the glass between her hands. Blocking out the good-times voices of those around her in the Yosemite’s late night bar and lodge, she stared into the depths of her alcoholic beverage. Made with vodka and coffee liqueur, the drink known as a Black Russian reflected her mood.
“Men are just dogs, doncha know,” she snarly greeted the son of a bitch -- likely a shapeshifter predator of some kind like her ex-fiancé -- and like herself.
Since her third drink -- this was her fourth after eating dinner several hours ago -- he’d been stalking her with his gaze from his solitary position at the bar. Now he towered above her. His burly frame had to be well over six feet, the complete opposite of the young stud who had professed to love her... then left her the minute his pack leader showed teeth.
Yeah, she could pick ‘em, couldn’t she? Balless bastards, every single one of the so-called men of her un-colorful, but long-in-the-fang past.
Why the ‘leave-her-alone’ hell hadn’t the towering, too young cub gone away... as in shoo, I’m not interested? Although, before she glanced back down, Sirakusa had caught a glimpse of bulging biceps beneath his black leather jacket. His muscled chest wouldn’t quit. Oh, and there was his unshaven square jaw, his dark unruly hair... his fathomless midnight eyes... though, she doubted his eyes were merely black in color. She damn certain wasn’t looking up to find out.
“Oh, I get it,” she snipped nastily, “you’re one of dad’s enforcers. Yeah, forgot. I didn’t make my scheduled --”
His weight hit the chair next to her, rattling the table, and her already shaky nerves. Sirakusa figured she didn’t jump out of her skin because she’d thoroughly anesthetized herself, and was nearing drunken collapse.
“Go away. I’ll call tomorrow,” she sneered, or as near as she could get to that tone when three sheets to the effing wind. Speaking of wind, a run through Yellowstone sounded good. If she quit drinking now, she could manage a shift, and work off some of this alcohol -- yeah, lessen her hangover. She had a yen to feel the wind ripple her fur. Her coat had already thickened for winter.
After shoving her drink to the far side of the small table designed for a couple, Sirakusa started to rise. Her head whirled as if she’d thrown it inside a dryer. Yeah, how scat-stupid she’d been to wash the beta coward’s clothes, and act like his wife. They’d even planned a modest human-like wedding.
Holy moly crap! Could she ever catch a break?
No, she thought as her eyes crossed and her body lurched forward. About to catch herself, or, at least, try, Sirakusa felt herself grabbed and hauled sideways. Her butt thumped on top of a pair of iron-hard, humongous thighs.
“Hey! Let go.” Twisting, she took a swing at his unshaven jaw.
When her fist sloppily grazed his neck, she spat, “I told you I’d call. Give dad a report.”
“My handle is Mad Bear. What’s yours?” All too easily his gravelly voice penetrated, and coiled through the center of her numb body, all while he eased her against his unyielding frame.
Bear! With her brain slow on the uptake, Sirakusa didn’t struggle as he wrapped his huge arms around her in a sort of a friendly bear hug. Okay, so he wasn’t one of her dad’s enforcers... who could keep track of them all?
“Crazy Cougar... that’s my handle,” she snapped, although her words lacked any significant bite, even to her ear.
“Cougar,” he growled, vibrating her ear, and vibrating her nether regions enough to wake them up from their liquor-induced stupor. “I thought so. I’d offer to buy you a drink, mountain pussycat --”
“Pussycat,” she shrieked, her tongue not cooperating with her outrage. “Fall’s almost here. Aren’t you about to eat berries by the ton, and hibernate? Or something...”
His thumbs caught her nipples -- the briefest caress. “I do like eating berries. Sucking on them too.” His nose nuzzled the rim of her ear. “For a very long time. Before I even think about hibernating.”
Despite the boozed, liquidy state of her body, Sirakusa shot upright. From their half-mast droop, her eyelids flew wide.
“What if I suck your berries to bright red?” he growly seduced.
Stunned, but suddenly burning with what could only be labeled needy desire, Sirakusa tried in vain to think quickly.
“No hibernating,” she ended up muttering.
“No. No hibernating,” he rumbled in a base note that strummed her to mating heat. “Mmm-mmm, don’t you smell ripe and juicy?” His large, very large fingers gently shoved between the apex of her thighs. “What if I lick that berry later?” Applying just the right pressure to her pussy mound, he stroked upward.
Sirakusa stifled a yowling moan. Still, she arched, the back of her head pressing hard against his chest. Rawrrrr... oh yeah, her hedonistic side was about to take control.
“I scented you the first moment I entered... my little crazy cougar.”
His enormous hand settled on her belly, and he rubbed lightly. Again, his strokes were just the right pressure. Wondering if he had an internal touch o’sex-meter, Sirakusa simmered on the ‘I want it’ heat setting. She was about to boil wild and hot for it.
If he didn’t stop doing... but, she couldn’t do this. Not again. Unless...
“Tell me you’re over thirty... at least. Maybe...”
He stilled, and she had her answer. Okay yowls, she gave him credit for not wanting to lie.
“What does it matter?” His lips nibbled her ear, and he possessively vised his arms around her. “We’re shapeshifters. We have a longer than long lifespan.”
So, Sirakusa concluded as she wantonly trembled inside, not only was he not looking for a one night stand... maybe, he was planning on ‘not’ hibernating with her during the winter months.
In that instant, Sirakusa realized her nose hadn’t been wrong. Even through her alcoholic haze, she scented his need to mate with her. Beneath her butt, his cock rose to the occasion. Then kept on rising with impressive strength, lifting her butt.
“This can’t happen.” She shivered violently, her emotions gathering like stormclouds.
“I carry my tribe’s ancient potion. A longevity cure-all --”
Sirakusa’s strangled scream interrupted Mad Bear’s startling revelation. The tattoo below the nape of her neck sparked pain through her. That meant only one thing.
“Raid,” she yelled at the top of her lungs. “Run! Shifters, run!” Sirakusa threw back her head and loosed her kind’s warning scream.
Bolting to his feet, the chair crashing behind him, Mad Bear cinched her middle with one arm. He slung her against his side and sprinted for the bar’s side entrance.
With her head pounding like Metallica performed inside it, and her tattoo still spraying fire through her, Sirakusa hung on for the ride. Around them, at least half of those inside the lodge’s large bar dashed for the nearest exit. Heedless of who was in their path, they pushed outside. Anything to escape.
Sirakusa didn’t blame them. It was why her family had held the magical ceremony when she was a mere toddler-cub. Her aunt, a medicine woman, had drawn the tattoo on her, then with the sacred smoke she’d burned it into her human skin.
Since that moment, Sirakusa always knew when the military’s elite, secret Shapeshifter Hunters were about to strike. She rarely knew who they targeted, or if they were casting a wide capture net. Because she ran far and fast, and never looked back.
It was only later that she heard the horrific, break-your-heart stories by those shifters who escaped their capture.
Mad Bear kept her tight against his side as he stealthily ran between the parked cars, SUVs and pickup trucks. Knowing they owned the advantage, most of the shifters had taken to the surrounding terrain. And, if they were smart, they would have scouted out the best escape routes, as she already had.
Halting beside what looked like a heavy duty Jeep to her, Mad Bear uttered a low growl as he quietly unlocked the passenger door. “They’ve got the place surrounded.”
Efficiently, swiftly, he placed her inside, and shut the door without a sound. Sirakusa had to wonder why they weren’t racing through the densest part of the forest. Not that she was in best shape to run for her life. Pain stabbed her head repeatedly, and her metabolism remained sluggish, even with adrenalin surging through her veins.
Noiselessly slipping inside despite his bulk, Mad Bear turned the ignition key. She heard a bare hum of sound, and the Jeep seemed to start. At least, they crept forward.
“Why...?” she began.
“Electric motor,” he whispered, interrupting her.
A sudden blaze of light caused Sirakusa to clap her hands over her eyes, and hope they weren’t being targeted.
“Hang on,” he growled. “Sorry in advance for your head.”
Seconds later, they whipped back and forth between the parked vehicles, and from lane to lane. Sirakusa grabbed whatever she could hold onto, and wished she’d never thought about drowning her sorrows.
With a keening moan, she clenched her eyelids. It didn’t do her any good. The tires squealed torturing her eardrums. They spun a hundred-and-eighty degrees, and he sped over rocky ground jouncing her back and forth.
After long minutes of this torment, he slammed to a stop. She felt them make a turn, and the Jeep crawled somewhere. “Get ready to shift,” he boomed. “They’re on our trail.”
Without thought, Sirakusa kicked off her platform shoes. At the same time, she slid out of her velvet stretch top. Within seconds, she’d stripped off her matching leggings. Always prepared to shift at a moment’s notice, she rarely wore anything she couldn’t easily remove. For the same reason she didn’t carry a purse, only using her pockets.
Hearing his door open, she glanced in Mad Bear’s direction, and not only noticed he’d shed most of his clothes... enough of an eyeful in every way... but, also, there was an outcropping of rock around them.
“Jeep should be secure,” he growled fast. “But we aren’t. They got sniffers on our trail.”
Sniffers! “How do you know?”
“Listen.”
The telltale whine of the sonic locator devices entered her ears. Worse, they were being detected. With fear chasing away the nasty fuzzies in her head, Sirakusa initiated her shift, and launched out the door.
“Follow me,” he shouted after her. “I know how to elude them.”
For some reason she didn’t doubt him. Besides, she wasn’t familiar with this territory. The onslaught of smells told her that much. Once Sirakusa landed on all four of her cougar paws, she swept her gaze around.
Goddess do tell, he was a giant of a bear, and she swore she’d never laid eyes on his kind before. He loped in front of her, and soon they were racing up the side of forested cliff, along a narrow path.
All Sirakusa knew was that the creatures of the night had made themselves scarce, and that they traveled for over an hour, running ever upward. With the elevation, the scent of the plants and trees changed.
Feeling the last dregs of her energy drain away, Sirakusa wasn’t aware when she finally collapsed, or when the blessed darkness claimed her.
***
Her head rested on something hard and chilled. Seeking the comfort of her pillow, Sirakusa tried moving her cheek. That’s when she awoke with a start, and felt the sharp chafing of her skin between her breasts, on the length of her belly, and on the inside of her thighs. What in the effing hell...? Where was she?
Feeling a dew-laden breeze on her dangling arms and legs, she cautiously peered downward. In the silvery light of early morning, she saw a huge, apparently naked man. He seemed to be on guard, his back pressed against the substantial tree trunk.
Attempting to ignore the aching throb of her temples, Sirakusa struggled to remember anything. Anything at all. Had they...? Who was he?
Oh, Goddess, she moaned to herself, and briefly shut her eyes. Obviously, she’d tied one on. Yeah, not her usual behavior. But she’d been so despondent, then beyond that, to the point darkness owned her spirit. Everything had seemed endlessly bleak as looked back on her life.
And now... scat!
Did she dare ask him who he was? Why...? What if he’d abducted her?
Uh-oh! Did she morph and make a run for it. He’d risen, and was turning...
“Morning, Crazy Cougar. How’s that head of yours?”
The sound of his baritone voice -- even at this distance she could see the commanding glitter of his dark eyes, his square unshaven jaw. “Mad Bear,” she burst out. With her ire rising fast, she demanded, “Why am I up here?”
“Had to put you up there while I led them away from you.” He paused, tilting his head so he had a better view of her face. “The Hunters don’t aim the sniffers that high.”
Mad Bear gave her a triumphant half grin. Moving so he stood directly beneath her, he spread his magnificently muscled arms wide. “I’ll catch you, sweet little mountain cat.”
Oh, what the... with her head still reeling and rocking, why not?
Sirakusa maneuvered herself with care, then rolled to the side, and let herself drop. True to his word he caught her as if she weighed little of nothing. Definitely points in his favor.
“This wasn’t how I intended our first night together,” he rumbled in a teasing manner.
Lost in his coffee-colored eyes, filled with amber beautiful glints, she murmured, “It’s a long trek back to your Jeep.”
“Yep. But, I’ll hold your hand, my crazy cougar, and maybe you’ll decide to tell me your name.”
“Just... maybe I will.”
His sudden kiss caught her off guard. Sirakusa moaned as his lips took possession of hers and didn’t let go. Not for a long while.
The Real Story ~ Black Bear Outsmarts Officials
Black bear outsmarts Wash. wildlife officials
~ news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110607/ap_on_fe_st/us_odd_bear_chase_1 ~
– Tue Jun 7, 5:00 pm ET
PORT ORCHARD, Wash. – A young black bear has outsmarted wildlife officials trying to trap it in Washington state.
Washington Fish and Wildlife Department agents are tracking the bear Tuesday near Port Orchard. So far, the bear has withstood a tranquilizer dart Monday and resisted a trap baited with doughnuts, marshmallows and maple syrup.
Sgt. Ted Jackson says agents are following the bear to make sure it stays away from schools.
He says if agents get a clear shot, they'll try to dart it again. If the bear remains in the area, they'll try again to trap it and relocate it.
~~~~~~

The story behind the story...

Charleson paced, his nose to the slight breeze. He’d spent days tracking his twin sister, Charis. The school was the last place he’d scented her.

Against the wishes of his parents, he’d trekked from their deep-forest home in a desperate effort to find her. She’d been spirited off by an evil skinwalker. Although his parents had sought out the best magicians, none of them had been able to free Charis from the spell, let alone discover her whereabouts.

Charleson understood the humans’ concern for their young ones. Still, he couldn’t give up. Despite the pain, and the hours of fighting off the numbing affects of the tranquilizer dart, he’d been able to elude the Wildlife Department agents.

Near exhaustion, he plopped his rump on the coolness of the ground. The shade tree he’d retreated to welcomed him, and shadowed his presence. Unable to voice his agony, he raised his head and silently bawled.

With tears leaking from his eyes, he dropped to the ground, his head on his front paws. Where was she?

Charis, he roaring-screamed in his mind.

Low whimpers escaped him, even as memories of their long playful romps in the forest crowded his mind. They should have been exploring their world, eating the ripe mulberries -- looking for honey. They should have been learning how to shift from bear to human, human to bear, so it would become second nature to them.

“I know where she is.”

The whisper, soft as a feather’s tickle, entered one of his ears. Not moving his head, Charleson rolled one eye while hope flared in his heart. The tiny fairy gazed at him from within a shimmering violet bubble. She was clothed in various shades of purple. Even her ankle-long, white hair glowed as if rinsed in lilac blossoms.

Did he dare trust her? More often than not, fairies were mischievous. Yet, some were exceptionally kind-hearted.

Charleson tried to make up his mind, his brain grumbling loudly with the effort.

Eagle Spirit Soars...

Here it is, shapeshifter lovers, the last day of August. In another three weeks, or so, Autumn begins. Already, the days are noticeably shorter and change is in the air. I feel it in the wafting breezes. My oh my, how time flies, to use an old cliche. Yesterday, about mid-morning, Eagle Spirit soared... here’s what I wrote on my Kougar Kisses blog ~

The Eagle Did Not Land
Late evening yowls, my bold and beautiful Big Cats... yep, as the Kougaress readied herself to face a long day of necessary shopping, she saw one of the resident eagles on the tame prairie shoot past, flying low and fast... an amazing sight. A precious sight. No, the eagle did not land.

As I reflect on that gorgeously winging eagle, I wonder if there was a message from Eagle Spirit?

Be a like the eagle in your life? Or... fly, low and fast, toward your goals? Do not land? Do not pass GO... okay, silliness is taking over. ~yep, a long tiring day~

Well, I’m not landing. Not exactly. I have several projects on the writerly burner. One is percolating deliciously. One is a short story I’d like to complete – I thought I would have gotten it finished by now, but you know about life and author interruptus. And, then there is my almost-completed WIP ~ Kandy Apple for Halloween ~

Suddenly, I’m feeling an eagerness to return to Kandy’s world where her magick is the norm, even though she’s living in our contemporary times. Plus, Zin and Zol, her heroes, delight me no end. They’re always making me chuckle. Think dry sophisticate remarks when they’re in human form... and unchained brute ferociousness when they morph to hellhounds.

But, we’ll see. Making plans is one thing. Getting life to cooperate is quite another matter. With the edits for The Tiger’s Masquerade coming up... and promo opportunities for Branded... ya know, I dunno. It’s a ‘fluid’ situation, as they say.

Eagle Spirit Soars... perhaps, the Eagle, symbol of the United States of America, is, once again, flying magnificently across our beloved land. From my perspective, that spirit has been lost of late.
~~~~~~
But now, it’s time for DA BEARS. Here’s a news story I’d love to use in one of my shapeshifter stories. For now, Rebecca, or anyone else, please twist to your own imaginative fancy.
From Unknown Country ~
Bears Guard Pot Farm
27-Aug-2010
As more and more states and countries legalize marijuana, pot farms are springing up out there. In Canada (where it is still illegal), police discovered that a marijuana farm is being guarded by trained black bears, when they tried to raid it.
But the bears were benign: Instead of attacking they simply acted as guards and were actually quite tame, so the police were eventually able to arrest 2 pot farmers. BBC News quotes police sergeant Fred Mansveld as saying, "They were tame, they just sat around watching. At one point one of the bears climbed onto the hood of a police car, sat there for a bit and then jumped off." The bears were fed dog food, so the farmers broke the law in 2 ways, since in Canada it's also illegal to feed bears.
~~~~~~

The Kougar’s news ~

I will be blogging at THE ROMANCE STUDIO on Wednesday, the 1st. Sedona and Volcano’s Summer Recipe scene will be featured, my heroine and hero in WHEN A GOOD ANGEL FALLS.

Good news... for me, anyway. I’m near the end of their two year anniversary scene. It is x-rated, takes place on December 21, 2014, and you’ll never look at Mars in the same way. That is, if I find a good place to post it.
