WE PAUSE FOR VACATION

HAPPY WEEKEND GANG!

Sorry for the lull in Gill's adventures.  I'm on one of my own.  My writing retreat is full of relaxation working on new story ideas along with surveying and researching more for my Cascade Bay series.  I've got a day left before I start my journey back to the day job and chronically Gill's sweet time off.

Hope the summer weather finds you and yours safe and at peace.  Weather this year is making its path through many areas while leaving others high and dry.  Please be aware of the weather and how it affects your home area.  Flood, drought, and/or fire are not fun for anyone even our animal friends.  Let's keep each other safe and around for many more eons and generations to come.

Until next week, remember to share a good book or two with your loves and spice.  I know I am!

Smiles,

SOLARA

Hunger...

Speed, dirt between her toes, wind and the delicious scents filling her nostrils…freedom!  It was all here for her taking and Ziva took.  She yipped and howled as she took…and then she took some more.

The sudden stinging on her haunches startled the wolf and had her whipping around, looking for the danger, but when her human name came bellowing from the stand of trees…

“ZIVA!”

…It all began to melt away.

The light blinded and her ass burned as her world once again became clear.  The latter of the two was actually quite pleasant, hey, who didn’t enjoy waking to a spanking.

“ZIVA!  WAKE UP.”

“Geez, turn down the alpha volume, I’m awake.”  But was she really?  Looking at what should have been her hands all she saw were paws and wickedly sharp claws tearing up the mattress.

“ZIVA! STOP YOUR CHANGE.  NOW!”

The need to follow the alphas order dug deep and pulled her wolf back, forcing her to heal like an obedient little pup.  Her paws came back to normal, once again human hands she used to push herself away from her male and out of the bed.

“ZIVA!”

“Stop using that voice on me. I-it shouldn’t work on me. I’m an alpha too.”  She raised her head and looked into his eyes, so full of concern she had to push down the quilt surrounding her for causing him to fear for his child. “I’m sorry.”

“No, Z, no apologies.” He scrub a hand down his face, wiping away the fear and replaced it with worry.  She ached to be the cause.

“But…”

“No.  Come back to bed, my love.  We’ll talk about what happened.”

Ziva checked the clock, five a.m., and weighed her options.  Back into bed with the very naked and deeply sexy male, or a shower and getting ready for work.  Right, like there was even a decision to make.  She moved to the bed and slid between the sheets he’d lifted for her.  Maybe she could take his mind off talking.

##

Nick swallowed the sigh of relief as he gathered Ziva into his arms.  He took a few moments to thank Lupa he’d been able to call his mate back to her human form before she’d gone too far.  He was anxious to meet his child, but not until he or she could survive outside his mates body.

“How about we spend the next hour or so finishing what you started with that smack on my ass, lover.”  Her whispered request was followed by a stroke to the appendage he was sure would remain forever flaccid when he awoke to his mates beginning shift.

He was ultra-glad he’d been wrong about that, but before they played they needed to talk.  “Ziva,” he said, removing her hand from his eager wood. “Talk to me first.  What happened?”

“Dammit, you’re really not going to play until I talk?”

“I’m not, now fess up…what happened?”

“I was dreaming.  I was running, so hard and fast, the smells out there were filling me up.  It was heaven.”

“You miss it.”

“Desperately, but not more than this life.”  She rubbed her small, rounded out tummy and looked up at him. “I keep reminding myself that once this little one is born we can run like that again, but I don’t think my wolf is listening.  She’s torn and hungry.”

Nick laid a hand over the little one inside his mate and processed what she was telling him.  “You know, Z, I wonder if the suddenness of this pregnancy might be the reason for the dream and your wolf’s needs.  I mean, if we’d planned this, we would have spent the weeks prior to your heat as wolves, running and being one with the nature around us.”

“We would have sated her…I-I hadn’t thought of that.  You don’t think she would do something out of spite, do you?”

“No.  And you and I won’t let her.  I think she’s just struggling. “

“I also don’t understand how your alpha voice was able to work on me, Nick.  To bring me back so quick.  I’m glad it did, but I’m alpha too, so it shouldn’t have worked like that.”

Nick rolled her to the side and slid himself against her back.  He knew the answer to her question, but didn’t think she was up to discussing it right now.  Soon enough she’d reason out that he’d never before used his alpha voice on her – yelled, yes, but never dominated her with it like he did unruly beta.  Then she’d put it together and realize that he was top dog and she the newest member of the McMahon pack, his mate.

“How about this, let’s figure out what we can do to satiate your wolf enough to keep her from needing to shift.”  He ground himself against her cheeks and slid a hand between her legs.  “Any ideas?”

“Oooh, yes, steak and eggs.  Hash browns and toast with some sauerkraut on the side…the Grill will be open soon.”

He groaned, partly because of her weird craving, but more so because he was horny as hell and she was talking food.  “Really, Z, right now?”

Nick found himself quickly on his back with his beautiful mate sliding herself onto his stiff dick and moving slow and sure.

“But first, let’s do this.”

He was without words as she moved with the grace of a she wolf taking what she needed.  All he could do was ride this to the end right alongside her.  “Ziva, oh Ziva,” he panted, closing in on a quick, first release.

“FLAPJACKS, FLAPJACKS,” she screamed as she reached the finish line right before him.

Nick barked out a laugh as she smiled through her release.  “I love you.”

“I love you, too,” she said, letting him ease her to the bed.  “And definitely flapjacks.”

“Definitely,” he chuckled.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Witch's Moon - Chapter 5, Part 1

Dante’s kitchen was a clown car. Literally. I had thought that when I saw all the barflies coming out of it earlier, but now I knew for a fact that all of them had actually come through the kitchen and not through some hallway or stairway just inside the kitchen door. It was kind of like seeing a six lane highway running through a factory district, with on and off ramps here and there, and one lane in each directing reserved for local traffic. I had no idea how they managed to get this to pass the health inspection.
I felt a tug against my waist and looked up into Mooney’s smirking face. I belatedly realized he had tucked my under his massive arm and was guiding me through the mayhem of The Pleasure Club’s upper kitchen like a momma duck ushering a distracted chick across a busy road. I flashed a bewildered grin at him before turning back to watch the show, trusting him to keep me safe while I ogled.
The walk through the kitchen couldn’t have been more than twenty paces, but there was so much to see that it felt much longer. The kitchen highway skirted to the left of the work area, with little more that storage along the right hand wall so that the chefs weren’t tripping over clubbers while executing their culinary ballet. And I do mean chefs, not cooks. As the owner/manager of a coffee shop that also served food, I know the difference. I was a cook. I heated partially prepared food out of cartons. These were chefs. They made delectable food from raw and sometimes odd ingredients. And they did it with style. I watch as one huge man flipped sizzling fajita meat and peppers in skillets over open flames without making a mess or catching himself on fire—not something I was capable of!
Mooney tugged on my waist again and I was whisked through a trapdoor in the floor, the culinary dance disappearing above my head as we descended. I blinked two or three times to clear my dazzled eyes of the magic of it all. The chefs were not magic users, but they were creating magic just the same. That’s the thing about magic. I didn’t simply exist, it was born of life just as oxygen was.
Plants breathed in carbon dioxide and exhaled oxygen, which animals then breathed in to create carbon dioxide. In that same way, the chefs took the largess of Mother Earth and created sustenance for Her Children, which transformed the potential of the raw ingredients into something more easily used by higher beings like people and shape shifters. A true artist didn’t just effect the change, though. They also created magic of their own. I didn’t make magic when I cooked. I simply made food. But on the other hand, I doubt those chefs could make magic by combining herbs and intent the way I could, either.
I pulled my attention back to the present. As fascinating as the insanity of Dante’s kitchen had been, I had actual work of my own to do still tonight. I’d sent a text to Lex as soon as I got back to Mooney’s truck earlier, so it was probably him that Dante was leading us to meet with down here in the belly of the club. I looked around owlishly. Maybe not the belly of the club. This long, dimly lit and scarcely populated hall was more like an arm than a belly. Bellies tended to be busy places.
After a good long walk, during which we passed a few smaller halls and a few shut doors, Dante stopped. He didn’t turn around, though he did speak to us over his shoulder.
“In here. Please wait until I get back to get down to business.”
Mooney nodded once. I was still tucked up under his arm so he might not have seem my own nod so I mumbled a quick “you got it,” and Dante nodded once himself. He continued walking down the hall and disappeared into the gloom almost immediately, not making a sound on the rough pine floors. I felt a little zap of nervous energy at the display of shape shifter otherness. You don’t see or hear them if they don’t want you to. Most people didn’t see this side of them because they made a point of blending in around humans. I was sure that little display was meant as a warning for me. Dante didn’t strike me as the kind of wolf who made careless mistakes and he hadn’t been all wolfy up to that point. It was an unneeded warning. I am not one of those magic using humans who feels the need to throw my weight around and offend my host. Besides, if Lex came here, that meant he wanted Dante to be in on the meeting. Getting down to business without him in the room would be counterproductive.
Mooney opened the door to our left—all the doors in the long hall had been on the left and all of the side corridors had been on the right—and ushered me through, not quite relinquishing his claim on me. I’m not quite sure why I didn’t object. Normally, being hovered over annoyed the crap out of me, but something about Mooney’s hovering made me feel… safe? Protected? I wasn’t sure. “Safe” wasn’t something I had much experience with and I had been protecting myself for as long as I could remember.
“Well, aren’t you two all cozy,” Lex said, his deep cultured voice dripping with condescension. I stiffed at the tone and what it implied. Mooney said nothing, just pulled me in tighter to his side. I looked at Lex, taking in his sneering half smile and insolent posture. You know what? Screw Lex and his judgmental attitude. I liked being tucked up close to this big, sexy wolf and I was going to stay here as long as Mooney wanted me here. Life was full of risks and just then, I was willing to risk a lot to keep this feeling of being safe and wanted, even if it was temporary and probably not real.

Dhavriz braced his legs, and called forth his lightblade...

June midyear howls and yowls, shapeshifter lovers.

Today's flash scene continues the sci fi story I began a few weeks ago, titled:  Space Opera Comes to Talbot's Peak

This scene stars the hero, Dhavriz, also called The Hunter. If you like the warrior type, this just might be flash for you. ~grins~

~~~~~~
Dhavriz braced his legs, and called forth his lightblade...
Dhavriz braced his legs, and called forth his lightblade, a huge broadsword he favored. Holding the pale fiery blade in a salute, he intoned, "Ready for battle. Activate."
The holo-program hummed for a split second. A horde of rhino-humanoid troopers charged, their beady, orange-neon eyes savage with the desire to hack and stab him into bits of unrecognizable flesh. Dhavriz stepped into a sprint. With his blade high, he slashed the weapon back and forth, fighting his way to the center.
Limbs and heads with giant horns flew around him.  The yellowish blood of his enemies sprayed as they struck at him with medieval-type weaponry energized by advanced laser tech.
When only a few remained circling him, Dhavriz roared with primitive zeal. He raised his blade over his head inviting the enemy to attack his bare chest. As they darted forward growling like thunder, he spun and sliced through their hide-shielded necks.
In the next moment, he heard the challenging trumpet of a battle mammoth. The sound pierced to his heart, seeking to weaken him with fear.  Dhavriz ignored his human reaction, ignored the blasts flashing around him from the spear-like weapon of the rider.
Blade at his side, Dhavriz raced over the rocky, low-brush terrain on bare feet as the battleship-gray beast charged toward him. The ground shook like an earthquake from its footfalls. Mighty curled tusks capped with jagged spear points dully gleamed beneath the lemon-colored sun.
With precision, Dhavriz avoided the constant fire-flashes as the rider sought to stun him into submission. As he ran, a warrior's roar poured up from his loins, then erupted from between his clenched teeth.
Keeping his legs swiftly pumping, Dhavriz pointed the broadsword as the shaggy mammoth lowered its massive head, ready to toss him about like a favorite toy. Life or holo-death, Dhavriz reminded himself.
While he never enjoyed harming animals, it remained imperative to keep his skills in a state of perfection. given his enemies often used such fearsome, trained beasts against him, and his crew.
Dhavriz stopped in his steps, flexed his knees and sprang. He stabbed his lightblade in the mammoth's exposed eye. Using his momentum, he whirled in midair as fire from the rider's weapon glanced off his shoulder blades and naked back.
Pain seared through his veins and Dhavriz transformed the energy into more strength. With a few key swipes of his blade, he destroyed the rider's weapon and unseated him.
Bellowing with rage, the mammoth swung his head slamming his tusks into Dhavriz. Letting the force take him, Dhavriz landed on his feet, then slammed the edge of his flaming broadsword into the beast's back leg cutting through tendons.
The mammoth leaped on three legs, twisting toward Dhavriz. The beast's trunk tried to coil around him like a monstrous snake. With flying blade and the brute strength of his arms, Dhavriz countered each attack.
The writhing, flash-quick movements of the mammoth's enormous trunk proved to be a worthy challenge once again.  Sweat glistened his body while his muscles bulged with power.
On the lookout for his opportunity, Dhavriz skewered the beast's trunk. He seized hold with one arm as the mammoth screamed and flung his trunk upward. Readying his lightblade, Dhavriz plunged the length through the tiny spot of unprotected flesh at the base of the beast's ear.
The mammoth's death throes began, and Dhavriz quickened the process by continuing to press the point of the broadsword into the beast's brain.  In moments,  the leviathan-sized creature crashed to the ground.
Overhead, as Dhavriz gained his feet, the droning buzz of the machine swarm alerted him. He never knew precisely which enemy the holo-program would throw at him. Often though, his psi sense warned him. This time, the program won.
Diving to the ground, Dhavriz grabbed hold of the dead mammoth's hind leg, and crawled beneath fast. The stinging insectoid swarm was nearly upon him. Their toxin would disable his muscles so they could feed on his flesh and carry his blood DNA to their mad-scientist masters.
The threat from these drone gatherers was a constant on the various galactic worlds. In the nick of time, Dhavriz shoved beneath the leg's heavy weight enough to cover himself. The furious, mosquito-like attack hit with the tiny machines chewing on the mammoth instead.
Soon a few of them would drill through, and attempt to paralyze him. Dhavriz played the waiting game, and once the dive-bombing ceased and the drones fed on the mammoth's flesh, he pushed his fist upward lifting the beast's leg.
Dhavriz rolled out from under and leaped to his feet. Swinging his lightblade like a battle hammer, he struck the swarm repeatedly. The blows burned out their cell-sized energy system.
But would he destroy enough of the miniature machines? Already, a few escaped. The evil buzz told Dhavriz they formed an attack wedge, only waiting for more of the swarm.
Knowing it was now or never, Dhavriz faced the drone wedge, his blade held like a shield. At superspeed the robot insects aimed for his heart. Front or back it wouldn't matter, except in the seconds it took to stop the beat of his heart.
Crap stars, Dhavriz mentally cursed as her image entered his mind. Commander Sarza of the Khy Woden, the incredible woman was the reason he'd decided to holo-train earlier than usual.  He couldn't afford to lose focus as Captain, as a warrior for his people.
Almost a nano-beat too late, Dhavriz powered up his broadsword. Rays of light shot out vaporizing the drone wedge within inches of his heart.
Damn, he had it bad for the woman.
Lowering his lightblade slowly, Dhavriz knelt down on one knee. He let his exhaustion take over, ordering, "Deactivate."
As the landscape dissolved around him, Dhavriz wondered how many times he would have to retreat to his private holo room. He seriously doubted ice cold showers, or swims in raging ice rivers, would dampen his desire for Sarza. Hell-blaster, not when she was within reach, and traveling with him.
Of course, she'd made it more than abundantly clear it wouldn't serve either of them to become involved as lovers. Dhavriz threw back his head and bitterly laughed at himself, at the outrageous twist of fate.
The one woman who fired all his cruiser jets... let alone the euphemistic torpedo between his thighs... and she had all but rejected him.
In the Monster's Lair
Maureen never saw how she went from the truck to wherever she was now. Somebody pumped gas in the back of the truck and she and her fellow captives passed out. When she awoke she was alone in a bare room with drab walls. No sign of Pete or Atcheson.
The first person, and she used the term loosely, to visit her looked like a mashup of a monster movie scientist and his creation. Bald in some parts, covered in thick, ragged patches of brownish fur in others, he wore the standard mad scientist white lab coat and glasses thicker than her own. One of his forearms was normal; the other was a hairy, meaty slab of twisted muscle that ended in a humongous paw. Like Hellboy. Come to think of it, Hellboy was cuter.
His crooked smile was fully human. Somehow that made it worse.
The smile didn’t last long. “Eh,” he said at first sight of her. “I thought they said they brought in a woman. You won’t do at all. Nice outfit, though.”
Maureen clutched what was left of her battered harem costume more tightly against her nonexistent chest. “Where are my friends?”
“The two louts they caught with you? They’re undergoing processing even as we speak. Your friend with the glasses will be joining my wolf pack shortly. Your blond friend with the anger issues?” He cackled. “I have plans for him. BIG plans.”
This seemed to strike him as funny. He cackled some more.
“As for you … ” He looked her up and down, and shook his head. “I don’t think so. Maybe I’ll just watch you. Ever do girl on girl? But first … ”
All of a sudden he lunged at her and grabbed her arm. He jabbed a hypo into her before she could twist away.
The pain and the assault lasted only a moment. Maureen scuttled to a corner and set her back to the wall. She rubbed her arm and watched him warily. Mr. Monster seemed more elated by the blood he’d drawn than he’d been by the rest of her. “Can’t wait to see what’s in here,” he said. “You know what the problem is with women?”
“They don’t like you?”
“All right, besides that. It’s your chemical makeup. Something in you doesn’t play well with my werewolf serum. That’s why I can only make boys. Testosterone gets them over the hump. The ladies just die in agony. I’ve got to figure out a way around that. The boys are getting testy.” He grinned at her and winked.
Maureen wanted to barf.
He left her alone after that, thank God. Some time later two hirsute guards came in and hauled her off to another part of wherever this place was. Her new prison resembled the harem room back at the biker bar in terms of lace and cushions, just with shoddier curtains. And other occupants. Maureen joined a group of eight dull-eyed women in costumes that made her own look like long johns. All were older than she was, and definitely the worse for wear.
“Hey,” their leader said when Maureen was flung into the room. “You must be the new lab rat. I can’t see him touching you. Hope you like girl on girl.”
“We have to get out of here.”
“No chance. We’ve tried. You don’t want to anyway. You don’t know what’s out there. He likes to let the werewolves roam. They’re not big on foreplay. We’re safer locked in here.” The woman grimly pursed her lips. “There used to be ten of us.”
Maureen found a cushion and curled up on it despondently. No way she was staying here. What would Velma do?
Find out all she could, for starters. The women didn’t know much, but they still knew more than she did. Maureen learned the man with the Hellboy hand was Dr. Morloxian. His job was to take captive humans and turn them into mutant monsters for a madman named Damien Hancock. They’d been at a lab some hours from here up until about a week ago. Then there’d been a massive bugout and now they were here. This new prison was smaller than the old one, but smelled a lot nicer and had prettier walls.
They also told her Morloxian was enormous, but in spite of that sucked in the sack. Maureen would have preferred not to know that.
Judging time was iffy in here. She spent it observing the guards’ routines, and studying the lock for pickability. It helped her not think about Ewan, and how badly she wished he would find her.
She was on day two or three when the monstrous scientist himself suddenly burst into the harem room. The women collectively groaned and fixed strained smiles to their faces while trying to jostle each other to the forefront.
“There you are,” Morloxian sang out gleefully. “You beauty. You absolute beauty.” He seized Maureen.
The relief from the others was palpable. A few of them even waved as he dragged Maureen out the door.
Maureen fought like mad, but he picked her up in his massive wolf arm. Given his muscles versus hers, it wasn’t much of a contest. “I’m not a beauty,” Maureen chattered. “Look. No boobs at all. Just throw me back. I’ll even do girl on girl.”
“You beauty, you beauty,” Morloxian crooned. “Oh, those beautiful genes.”
“And I’m a virgin, so it won’t be any fun for you, and I have this disease, and I—what?”
“You lovely little bitch,” Morloxian said. His ugly, half-wolf face was suffused with bliss. “Little werewolf bitch. All this time you were hiding them from me. Those lovely she-wolf genes.” He beamed a crooked smile at her. “Just enough that there’s a chance you’ll survive the process. You’d better. I’ve already told the boys. You should have heard them howl. You’re going to be the most popular lady in the state. And I won’t have to dig up subjects any more. I can breed my own.”
He started singing to himself. After a moment Maureen recognized the tune: “Who Let the Dogs Out.”
Maureen was not a screamer, or usually a thrasher. She prided herself on using her brains to get herself out of a jam.
Now she thrashed. And screamed.
Vacation Time for Gill Begins
The small islands off the coast got Gill’s attention even from the plane window.  Now that he could see them from the sands of the beach near his hotel, he marveled at the rocky exteriors each pillar contained.  No two looked alike.  Just like squirrels and other shape shifters.  They might look the same.  They really weren’t.  When he started loping things together and making hasty decision, Gill knew vacation time had arrived.
The flight proved worthwhile.  He dozed for a couple of hours and made notes.  Notes on the campaign to come.  One that he wasn’t overly worried about.  Still another term in office and he needed an agenda.  Something he could work towards rather than off the cuff.  Though this term was not bad.
Waves washed across the sands coming close to his feet.  The roar as they approached reminded him of the birds rushing upward at dawn full of energy as the sun rose.  Then the rush of quiet as the dawn broke and the clouds cleared.  Yes, time to reflect and decide.  For now Tyburn and Rachel were talking instead of fighting.  Louie and Bettina were working together along with the occasional night out.  Romance flooded the Peak.  Was his luck going to change?
High from the top floor of the hotel, she watched.  She noticed him from the moment he walked through the door.  Lean and compact, like the male in her dreams.  Dreams that left her lusting and needing release.  Release her worn out vibrator wasn’t providing.  How long would he be here?  Did he feel the lure?  The chemistry that pulsed each time he walked by.  Gods and Goddesses, she prayed he did.
Happy weekend Gang!
Gill's vacation adventures are off and running.  I hope he has a good time and finds what he is looking for.  The Spice Homestead is gearing up for ours.  May the start of summer find you and yours enjoying time together resting and relaxing.
