Where Do You Network?

I'm blogging between raindrops this morning because we're being treated to another round of storms and I'm trying to type with my fingers crossed. Okay, I'm a teensy bit superstitious but I'm really hoping I don't lose power.

Serena's post yesterday on promotion reminded me why I ventured into the blogging world. I'd always been one of those people who learned just what I needed in order to write my books and hopefully get them to an editor who liked them. When I sold, I thought, Okay, put up a website, people visit and get to know you. Wrong.

People don't know where you are unless you tell them and for that you need a social network. Where do people gather these days? Twitter is the latest rage and I have to admit that I haven't tried that yet. Facebook? That place is still a little intimidating but it's on my "to do" list.

I do however blog. I love blogging! I love visiting other author's blogs and getting to know them a bit better. Some of them are quite funny and I have my morning coffee visiting Fran Lee's Examiner page, Three Wicked Writers, and Anny Cook to name a few.

One of my favorite places to find authors I adore is You Tube. There are several good cover trailers on the site, and the promotional opportunity is wonderful. Besides the beautiful covers you get a mini blurb of the book. Yum.

Where do you network? I'd love to come for a visit!

I stop in periodically during the day at Twitter, Facebook, and do some blogging on my newsletters. I've got a few things up at YouTube but need to revamp some of them and actually delete others.

Most of the time I socialize on the various Yahoo loops for readers and writers of romance fiction. Occasionally I post a few messages at some of the dating sites, but not as often as I used to simply because I'd rather focus on promoting my writing rather than just little old me. :)

Great post, Paris! I take advantage of all the free networking stuff. I do myspace, facebook, and I'm just getting into twitter. I have a personal blog plus I do a group blog with two other writers. I'm also a member of various loops. I'll go on to chat here and there. Just HI! What's UP, kind of stuff to get to know people.

Other than with you? LOL. I blog regularly, guest blog, chat on Yahoo loops, have a My Space page, Goodreads, Facebook and Twitter. I like Facebook and Twitter the most.

Fran,
I sometimes think you are the busiest woman in romance! I swear I don't know when you sleep;-)Blazing Trailers, you say! Yet another place I was unaware of. Looks like I may be scheduling a couple of more coffee breaks through the day! Thanks for sharing;-)

Hi Paris, I think the main bases have been covered.
Have you looked The Romantic Times forum? They have one for small/print epubs and their authors.
Personally, I enjoy blogging at my own little blogspot corner... and also guest blogging.
Sometimes, the Yahoo loops are fun and fascinating. How well they work, I think, is up for debate. With Yahoo acting up regularly, I just don't have the time to mess with it often.
Since I don't like facebook or goodreads, I don't mess with them.
I'd do trailers for Youtube, etc. except I have dial-up and that doesn't work real well.
Best of on networking.

Wow, all of these awesome ideas in addition to ones from yesterday! I'm going to be busy checking things out. :) As for where I network, mainly blogs, Passionate Ink, Romance Divas and the Liquid Silver Books forum. I like the Good Reads idea too.
Great post, Paris!!

Hi, Paris!

Frankly, I've found it increasingly difficult to keep up with this multitude of social networking sites, so I've tried to narrow my focus. My own blog gets the most attention. The Liquid Silver forums are great, too.

Since I'm currently writing m/m erotic romance, I like making regular visits to places that feature or at least welcome my subgenre. It seems the most sensible thing to do.

Facebook? I just don't get it and really don't have the time to play around there.

Hi K.Z. and welcome! I'm most comfortable in the blog forum myself. I haven't ventured into Facebook or Twitter. I think visiting those places that feature and welcome your genre is time well spent. Thanks for stopping by!

I blog regularly and chat on several loops. I'm not much of a forum person though I belong to several. But my new obsession? TWITTER! I love it. Such a time suck for me as I find myself "chatting" with all kinds of people throughout the day.

That's one of the reasons I've been leery to try TWITTER. It's too easy to start talking and when I look up half my day is gone LOL! I have to confine my social networking to a couple of hours in the early morning and a little in the evening or I'd get nothing done!
