Dream a little dream for me

“Honey, where’s Denis?”

Denis twitched one eye warily at the door to his mom’s sewing room, but the action in the movie pulled his attention firmly back to it. He wasn’t supposed to be up still since it was a school night. He especially wasn’t supposed to be watching movies. That was why he was watching the movie on his laptop behind a pile of quilting squares in his mom’s sewing room, of course.

“Isn’t he in his room, dear?”

His eye twitched back toward the door again. He did remember to put a dummy in his bed, didn’t he? Whatever. If he’d forgotten some detail and got caught, it was too late to worry about it now. Besides, the epic battle scene towards the end was coming up fast. This was the greatest dragon movie ever!

“Well, there’s a mannequin in his bed, but as this is a full-moon night…”

Drat! He swore mentally. He’d forgotten all about that. Which was silly, since the whole reason behind borrowing this DVD from his best friend and staying up to watch it tonight was because it was a full moon night. Still, they had to find him and he wasn’t in a logical place.

“Did you check under the bed?” “I did, but he’s not there, honey.” “Where on Earth can that boy be?!?”

Denis sat back, not bothering to look at the door anymore. If they found him, then they found him and he would deal with the resultant humiliation. Being caught watching “How To Train Your Dragon” in dragon from with a pair of paper wings on may be childish, but he figured he was only going to be young once!

Oh, that is just too adorable! Good thing I didn't see the pic before I read your fun flash scene. It was much better this way.

You got to admit it; at some point in your childhood, you watched a movie over and over, wishing the whole time that you were one of the characters! At least Denis hasn't started demanding people call him Toothless, unlike a pair of rowdy wolf pups who demand to be called Loki and Thor...

While not a movie, I certainly watched Disney version of Zorro as a kid, wishing I was the masked man.

And, I certainly lived Ladyhawke as I watched it.

Awww, that's cute.

What do you mean, "in your childhood"? You want to know how many times I've seen Disney's "Aladdin"? Or "Shrek"? (I'm kind of wondering about that wolf in the granny gown ... )

I actually did insist on being called "Scrappy Do" as a child and successfully negotiated with my mother for the right to eat my dinner on the floor so long as I used utensils and a plate and ate at the table when not eating at home. My mom still calls me Scrappy from time to time, too...

I always wanted to be Emma Peel from the Avengers ('60s British version, not the superheroes). She kicked ass and looked great doing it.

The fact that my kids know who Emma Peal is but not John Wayne says quite a bit about how totally awesome she is/was. I'm not sure you could have chosen a better "ass kicker" to emulate!
