Changes, Man. Will Make You Insane...
“You sure you don’t want me to come inside with you, Z?” Nick parked his mate’s vintage mustang and wondered once more what was going on inside Ziva’s head. She never let him drive her car—ever. She barely let anyone admired the steel beauty—until this morning when she threw him the keys and slid into the passenger seat. The sudden change convinced him something was wrong with her or, Lupa forbid, the baby.
“Nope,” she responded as if there were other things on her mind. “Go to your meeting. I’ve got some, er, work to finish up.”
He watched her walk towards the front door, her head in the clouds. “Ziva, the keys are in your other hand, honey.” He said, watching her struggle to open the locked door.
“Oh, right. Thanks.”
Once she stepped inside, Nick moved the car around the side of the building and went to his private entrance. The fates were kind to him today and kept the breeze blowing downwind. With her already excellent sense of smell shoved into overdrive she would have caught him peeping from the front door. As quietly as he could, Nick unlocked the door and slowly pulled it open.
Within seconds he knew what his mate was doing here early and it made him smile. She had yet to add her top ten to the machine, but clearly she’d been sneaking time alone to free her voice. Lupa love her she gave it her all…even with the screeching cat sound coming from her mouth.
“It's those changes in latitudes,
Changes in attitudes nothing remains quite the same.
With all of our running and all of our cunning,
If we couldn't laugh, we would all go insane.”
Nick peeked out the inner office door and saw Ziva, mic in hand, smile on her face singing her all-time favorite Jimmy Buffet song. She was safe and appeared happy to be singing so he’d leave her be, but it was time to find the one person who could pull his love out of this funk and perhaps take even more stress off her shoulders.
He shut the door and grabbed his tablet off the desk before heading back to the car. He’d go to his meeting, then spend some time tracking down Ziva’s past. It was time.
~~~
So I've been finding myself humming and listening to this song a lot here at the end of my Spring semester at school, no bigs urprise really since this is my dealing with the stress song. :)
It appears to be Ziva's as well. Yes, she and I are parrot heads. If you have a few minutes to spare, check out the video to see what being a parrot head is like. Bring me to the Island, man!
Have a great weekend!
Wonderful flash! And this brings up a great memory... while I love a lot of Buffet songs... I've never thought of myself as a parrot head... but take me to the beach!
Anyway, I was on a group canoe, white water trip on a river down in Arkansas [long ago]... and we saw this other group in their canoes with fake parrots on their shoulders, and doing the Buffet thing... it was a hoot!
LOL...Parrot heads in a canoe...omg that would be perfect! I bet that is a great memory, Savanna. :D
I don't think I've ever heard that term before. Like WalMartians with music, or something different?
Is "Hungry Like the Wolf" on the playlist? You know somebody snuck it on there ...
Yeah the trip was good! I thoroughly enjoy canoeing. And the parrot heads were wonderful to behold... just the not the guy who ended to be a JERK!
hehehe...you mean Parrot Heads, Pat? Ultra fans of Jimmy Buffet!
LOL...yes, Hungry Like the wolf is definitely on there, I heard it might have been Jamie who added it...but that could be just a rumor.
Mistress P added Girls on Film, so maybe she added the other as well. ;)
Ugh, that stinks, Savanna. JERKS should not be allowed on canoeing trips or around Parrot Head fun! ;)
I keep thinking the ultimate shifter song would be Jimmy Buffet's "Hamberger in Paradise." Hmmm, maybe Loki and Thor will end up singing that one.
