Love & Loss

Penelope locked the door to the Gazette and hefted her bag higher on her shoulder for the walk to her car.  Since the start of her friend Ziva’s pregnancy, she’d been sharing the closing duties with Nick to give him more time with his mate.

The extra time in the evening gave her time off in the morning to read, relax and worry about Burgess, her missing lover.  Her penquino had taken off months ago on a job and had yet to return.
His loss was taking its toll on Daniel, their third, who was spending more time as a mink than a man.  She could appreciate his withdrawal.  The penguin shaped hole Burgess had left in their life was killing her…literally.

PeaParrots like her did not thrive when a mate was lost, and though there was no proof that Burgess was dead, her body had stopped listening to her brain.

Penelope leaned against the car and looked to the forest surrounding the town.  It wouldn’t be long before her raptor revolted.  She’d revert to her animal form and take to the trees, searching out the perfect crevice to curl into and die.

She’d thought her domme lifestyle would have protected her from this end, but she’d underestimated love, true and beautifully blue, love.  Damn.

“Christ, Rafe, there’s something wrong with her.”  Burgess pulled at the arm tightening around his throat, determined to get to his woman.  “Let go!”

“Sorry, man, no can do. We just need a few more days to wrap up your part of this.”

“No!” he wheezed, growing light-headed at his lack of oxygen. “Let me go to her, now.”

“I can’t.  Sorry, Burg, I’m sorry…”

Black dots filled his vision, eliminating reality slowly and leaving him with a sense of foreboding.  Even his buddy’s words didn’t help.

“I’ll keep her safe, man.  I promise.”

No one could keep her as safe as he could, unless he was out cold.

Pretty short this week, but it appears that Mistress P has been keeping secrets...even from me.  Must wrap myself around this twist.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Oh no! Poor Penelope and Burgess... somehow they must be brought back together. Love must find a way.

Yes, they definitely do need to be reunited and quick! I suspect this is Penny's way of telling me she's tired of riding the metaphorical bench. Even though I know the green room in my head has a nicely padded spanking bench.

The heart will not be denied.

No!!! You can't do this!!! You can't hurt your characters! It's romance! It has to end in hugs and puppies and rainbows! Or we will hunt you down.

As you can tell, the caffeine's wearing off.

Quick, get the lady a coffee? Pop? :D

I know, Pat, I told Mistress P the same thing and all she did was flip me the bird. We're at a stand still. She wants her penguin back and I still don't know how to make it happen.

Mz. Muse is smirking in the corner taking bets which way this will fall...such a bitch.

The room is in chaos... Hmm, I wonder if Loki is visiting? Or a coyote? ;)

what an interesting twist!

Thanks Rebecca! It is interesting, though that's not one of the words I used last night as Mistress P was making me write it. ;D

I think those other words aught to go toward that damn ad that popped up on the blog when I logged in just now.

That being said, I like this twist. I like the whole tough-as-nails dominatrix falling head over heals for her sub and not being sure how to deal with his extended absence. Very nice twist, indeed!

Grr, pop up ads make me want to scream. They never make me buy what their selling.

Yeah, Domme extraordinaire is twisting indeed. I hope she figures out what to do before her Peaparrot genes take over. :)

I just added Mistress P to a scene in my book, so she has to come through this okay.

Maybe she and Mr. Spock should get together. Is it the seventh year already?
